Bishop Phillips Academy, Iwo Road, Ibadan PMB 20 is a renowned educational institution in Nigeria.
BPA was Founded in 1964, however it started as a school in 1965 by an Anglican priest named Pa. Rev. J.A. Adeniran of blessed memory.

Bishop Phillips Academy was named after the then Bishop of Lagos, Leslie Gordon Vining Phillips who happens to be the former teacher of Pa. Rev. Adeniran. The School started as a small secondary school in a site at Iwo Road, now Ollan pharmacy before moving into its permanent site today, with a mission to provide quality education to students in Ibadan and beyond.

Over the years, the academy grew in reputation and size, becoming a hub for academic excellence, sports, and character development. It has produced many distinguished alumni who have made significant contributions in various fields, including medicine, law, engineering, politics, and more. For example is the incumbent Governor of Oyo State, Governor Oluseyi Makinde Fnse (GSM) among others.

Bishop Phillips Academy has a rich tradition of fostering a supportive community, encouraging students to strive for excellence, and instilling values such as discipline, hard work, and service to others. The academy’s motto: Philosophia Vincint Omnia which means “Knowledge and Character conquers all” reflects its commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who make a positive impact in society.

Today, Bishop Phillips Academy continues to thrive, with modern facilities, dedicated staff, ready to learn students and a vibrant old student’s body.

Its story is a testament of the selflessness of its founder by naming the school after his teacher and also giving the large expanse of land totally to the government without taking anything back in return.
